CABLE HILL HOUSE

Our recently completed architecture project in Southwest Portland was a substantial remodel of a home originally completed in 1979. Selective changes were made in plan to modernize this house for the new owners, whose experience with remodels made them excellent decision makers. All the living space and almost every finish was adjusted through the consistent use of a language of wood and steel, which transformed the house into a unique home. New windows throughout allowed the house to embrace its site, with abundant light and privacy. Together we completed one of our most rewarding projects to date.

The project was selected for inclusion on the America Institute of Architects Portland 2013 Homes Tour.

Cable Hill House Exterior

The remodel included painting the exterior siding a dark brown-grey that contrasts nicely with the natural grain of the wood screens.

Cable Hill House Kitchen

The kitchen renovation includes custom built cabinetry, a steel countertop, farmhouse sink, floating shelves, and new hardwood flooring. Large windows open up the space allowing natural light to flood the space and views from inside.

Cable Hill House Dining Room

The custom made sliding barn door wall functions as a way to change the privacy and openness of the living areas. It can slide closed to make the dining area more intimate and to create privacy from the front door, but it can also be slid open for gatherings or to just allow natural light further inside.
